Production rate estimating.

Simply put, production rate estimating comes down to math. We have a specific production rate for every task that we do. These production rates are based on three main categories:

1. Surface square feet per man hour
2. Linear feet per man hour
3. Man hours per item.

Once we have the measurements for your project we are able to quickly come up with a 100% accurate price.

We rely heavily on the accuracy of our production rates. Our production rates are based on over 25 years of real project data. This ensures that your quote reflects actual conditions.

Production rate estimating allows us to predict not only the cost but also the time required to complete your project. Our start and finish dates are accurate.

Since we use the same process every time, our estimates are reliable, and you’ll know how long the job will take. This gives you peace of mind, knowing there will be fewer delays and surprises.

There are a few different estimating methods we have observed other painters use:

1. Cost per square foot of your home. (See the next question why this is not accurate!)
2. Wild guess. Seriously. We see firsthand, from the many online groups we’re in, painters asking “how much should I change for ___?”
3. Cost based on experience. There are painters who say, “I have been doing this for X number of years, and I just know.” 

Square footage of a home does not tell you what the full scope of work is. There are so many factors, such as:

• Ceiling height
• Surface footage (what is actually being painted)
• Windows and doors – the surface material, the quantity, linear footage
• Trim and details – crown molding, wainscoting, handrails, risers, cabinets
• Extra prep/finishing work – sanding, caulking, caulking removal
• The paint – number of coats, type of paint, number of colors
• Exterior factors – Mildew, peeling paint, surface square footage, need for additional equipment such as scaffolding or a boom lift.
• And so much more.

No, your price will not change. When we provide a price, we commit to that price regardless of how long it takes or how many gallons of paint we end up using.

Yes. If you request to change the scope of work that we agree to in our detailed contract and video scope of work, then yes the price will be adjusted. Note: All changes are discussed and agreed upon in writing before any changes to the scope and price are made – no surprises!
