What We've Been Up To
April 2025
We post projects on a monthly basis, regularly showing off the painting projects that we've tackled throughout the Portland area.

We painted the previous home of this client several years ago, and now his new home’s exterior needed work too. He drives by his old house and sees how good it still looks so he reached out to us for this one. He was looking for new colors and some dry rot repair on top of the quality work. He loves the brick and accents on the home so we coordinated with him on new colors to tie into those aspects. The home’s wood siding was super dry so it was critical to thoroughly back roll the paint into the siding since it soaked up much more paint than normal.
These clients have moved a lot and been through several kitchen remodels. They originally called us out for the cabinets, which were old honey oak. Initially, the cabinets required several other carpentry tasks so we got them in touch with Jacob, from Restoration Cabinetry & Design. He gave the cabinets the modern face lift they needed with brand new no-grain cabinets. After that was taken care of, we came back to finalize the space, taking care of the rest of the trim, and the walls throughout the kitchen and the connected living room.
The client hired a contractor through a friend, but they botched the cabinet job so badly she eventually had to fire them. Two other painters failed to fix the damage, leaving her with ruined doors and months of frustration. Eight months later, she called us – we restored her worst cabinet as a test, earned her trust, and then completed the whole kitchen.
This story has so many more details that we’ll share in an upcoming featured project post. To begin to understand how bad this situation was, take a look at the massive amount of blue tape in the before photos below. Every single one marks a flaw left over from the previous painter.
The client worked as their own General Contractor to coordinate their bathroom remodel. Everything from new tile, shower, mirrors, lighting, and painting. They have been working hard to create a brand new bathroom that they could better enjoy and needed professional painters to put the finishing touch on it. They had hired painters in the past to paint different bathroom cabinets, but the experience left them searching for something a little more professional, especially for their master bathroom they have put so much work into.
The client had her garage door replaced and the HOA immediately hounded her to get it painted to match the rest of the home. At the time, the weather was not right for a garage door to be painted properly, but fortunately the HOA permitted a time extension so that we could return as soon as the conditions were ideal.

This client has really nice Ipe wood decking and benches that we have re-stained every year for multiple seasons. Given the nature of Ipe wood, refinishing it only lasts about a season in the PNW. However, since we have been staying on top of it every year, the maintenance, cleaning, and sanding is very minimal, making this a quick, cost-efficient project for our client each Spring. Between her beach home and this house we have worked for this client 9 times in the last 12 years. We have worked hard on nearly every inch of their Manzanita Beach house both inside and out, and the same for their SW Portland home.

These clients are moving and needed uniformity for wall color. They had two rooms with personalized colors and wanted them the same color as the rest of the home again for selling purposes. We were able to work with their timeline and provide a quick turn around for this wall painting project.
This home has a lovely covered outdoor patio with 4 skylights. The whole ceiling has a finish on it, but because of the skylight portions it gets way too hot and the finish needs frequent work. Every year it peels and causes a bunch of work to scrape, sand, and re-finish. The client wanted it to look nice and require less maintenance, so we decided to go with a stain to closely match the rest of the finish. We chose this because even in the heat of the skylights, the stain will fade over time rather than peel, so in the future less work is needed and we can keep the same look.
Last year, the client had their roof replaced along with new soffit decking boards and fascia boards. These were all new and needed to be primed and painted to match the rest of the home. The siding on their chimney was also in rough shape, with woodpecker holes and peeling paint. The clients were no longer comfortable being up on ladders and simply didn’t want to tackle this project themselves, so called in the experts from Pearl Painters.
For the most part, this client’s home was in good condition. However, they spend a lot of time on the back deck which takes a lot from the sun. The accent beams were wearing down and they really wanted to keep it looking new. They also had some water damage on a portion of siding. We scraped off all the failing paint, primed, and repainted the upper section end-to-end to ensure uniformity for them.

Last month we finished the interior of this kitchen remodel, and this month we are back to do the exterior now that the weather is better. The clients love cooking and have a big family. They needed more space for the kitchen so they had their kitchen added / bumped out. This portion of the project was sealing and protecting the new outside walls. We also needed to color match and carefully cut in to the rest of the home that we were not painting to preserve the aesthetic of the rest of the home.

We painted the client’s exterior over 10 years ago. She recently had some windows replaced, wanted the edges touched up and a potential quote for the full exterior again. After visiting, we determined that her Pearl Painters exterior was still in excellent condition and did not need a full repaint yet. We re-edged her new windows and will meet up in a year or so for a full exterior re-paint. This is the 5th project with this client when you count the interior projects over the last 18 years of working together.
