What We've Been Up To
Fall 2025
We post projects on a monthly basis, regularly showing off the painting projects that we've tackled throughout the Portland area.
These clients came to us ready to go with one of our favorite new trends, color drenching! With a spectacular new bold color chosen, they were ready for a big change – All the walls, ceilings, and trim were painted the same color. Important note for those interested: Make sure, like was done here, that the trim is still done in a trim paint and in a higher sheen than the walls and ceilings. It is key to the success of the color drench room.
These clients were looking to add a modern flair to the kitchen, as well as their own personal pop of color. We chose a new color scheme, and began the process of getting cabinets organized, cleaned, and ready for oil primer. That is one the most key steps in finishing cabinetry. All sprayed with fine finish spray tips for that nice smooth finish.
Located right at the peak of Bull Mountain, this is one of our favorite stories about family moving closer together. These clients have lovely grandchildren right down the road, and wanted to make this home their own. We did a full repaint on every surface, top to bottom. All trim, doors, closets, walls & ceilings were cleaned, prepped, and painted. Wallpaper removed in the bathroom and ready to new ideas. This home is ready for a new chapter!
A long standing client called us with a classic interior project we handle frequently. Vaulted ceiling with hard to reach spaces. She actually did most of the painting but needed the professionals, (and professional equipment) for reaching those high up tricky areas while still keeping the quality. We do smaller one day projects like this a lot during the winter and are always happy to help!
Like a lot of cabinet projects, this one involved 2 colors, and multiple spaces. It can be daunting, but of all the types of projects we do, it is most important to do as much cabinetry at once as you can. The economy of scale on cabinet projects is far more substantial than any other type of project. There is a higher base cost of getting set up and going, but once we are there, the rest goes quick!
We have done several interior projects for these clients, with the most recent being a bathroom remodel they took on themselves. They added new shiplap walls with a new design, and we came in to paint the original cabinets to match as well as the walls. Totally transformed space!
We love it when our clients become lifelong partners! We recently had a long-time client who moved from the Portland area out to Redmond, and we were thrilled when they reached out to have us handle their new space. A few times a year, we travel outside our normal service area for special projects—usually second properties at the coast, Central Oregon, or vacation homes on Mt. Hood. It has proven difficult to find the same reliable service and quality in those areas, so our clients find it’s well worth the investment to have our trusted crew make the trip. While our project rates stay the same, these out-of-area projects simply include the additional costs for food, lodging, and travel. Pro-tip: Thinking about having us tackle your vacation home? If our crew is able to stay on-site during the project, you will save big on travel costs — plus, our team gets a fun ‘work-cation’ retreat!
These clients hired painters only a couple years ago for the cabinets, and quickly realized there were issues. Color fade, paint chipping, and even ruined hinges. This is a classic case of poor prep and low quality paint. We started back at step one and brought everything up to a Pearl Painters standard, creating mechanical and chemical bonding onto cabinet surfaces, more sanding than you can imagine, and spraying proper cabinet grade paint in a professional fashion. The result is a beautiful kitchen that will actually LAST! Also as a side note this is the third project we have done for this client. Here’s their Google review too:
One of our favorite long time clients, who we have been serving since Pearl Painters first opened, had us out for some pre-holiday room painting. There was also some water damage that needed to be addressed. We took care of the damage, freshened up the walls, and had the pleasure of doing an Italian plaster accent!
This was another part of a bigger remodel. We have another 3 areas that have been re-done by drywallers to create smooth walls and ceilings prior to our arrival. We then came in, primed everything, sprayed all the old wood trim to give it a new modern look, and updating the colors to match their style.
Another BEAUTIFUL project done in combination with our favorite color consultant, Vanessa Rider with ColorMoxie. We love new bold colors, and the cozy den trend that is on the rise. These photos speak for themselves!
We do our best to accommodate our clients in every way possible, and this is one of those cases. We like to do cabinets on site whenever possible, to keep costs down and the project efficient, but when that is not a possibility we can take the doors and drawers back to our shop. This keeps it much cleaner and less invasive.
We have had the pleasure of working on the full exterior and several smaller interior projects on this home. The time finally came for the big one! We spent most of December with this family, working on all of the trim throughout the entire home, including cabinets and some walls. Most of the walls had previously been done by us, so we went through a longer process of back-masking all the walls to keep the finish safe before going through the longer, more complex trim prep and spray process.
We did the main cabinets last year, and are now back for this incredible island accent piece! This is one of my favorite colors, Black Panther from Benjamin Moore. It has the most beautiful undertones that shine through in certain lights.
This was another high end trim project for a previous client. All of the cabinets, all the trim and doors in all the common areas were wiped down, scuff sanded, and oil primed, before we filled dents and scratches. After it is all inspected, only then will we move forward with spraying the top coats.
With the holidays around the corner and families coming in, we get lots of projects like this one: refresh the guest space! A lot of the time we can do just the walls to renew the space, on this project we did walls, ceilings, and trim. Updated color and we have a new space!
We unfortunately get a lot of projects like this one. The previous painters did not meet expectations, this was a brand new door but it was left covered in runs and feeling super rough. If you look close you’ll see bubbles under the finish too. No proper prep left this showpiece door lacking. We had to strip the door back to raw wood, stain match, and then seal it with 3 coats of UV resistant oil finish. SUPER important!! DIYers: careful not to mix oil and water finishes and allow proper dry times. that is how you avoid these bubbles! Google Review link: https://maps.app.goo.gl/r3mRtiqbUMqnW9KS8
It is a huge bonus to us (and a cost savings to our clients!) when the home is completely empty. This project was a rental in between tenants which is the perfect time to paint. With nothing in our way, and only floors to cover and protect, we can really move fast and save our clients money! Walls throughout a whole home like this become incredibly efficient, only taking a few days to be completely wrapped up.
This was a super fun project! Our team really felt at home and the client even said she’ll miss us at the door in the mornings. Love those comments! We fully repainted all the walls and ceilings in this home creating an entirely new look and feel. The pictures speak for themselves 🙂
These can be super tricky projects. Most natural doors are only a thin veneer, not solid wood. because of that, there are only so many times it can be fully refinished like what we did here. To bring this door back to life, we had to do a full strip, which is an extensive scraping/sanding process using several different sanding grits to get an even uniform surface, then restain and seal. If someone were to sand through that veneer, the only way to get uniformity again is to fully prime and paint the door. Luckily we were able to rescue this one! Now, with a regular maintenance coat, before it gets too far gone, this door can last many many more years.
These clients already had a poor experience with some previous painters, highlighting just how critical it is to not only listen, but to set proper expectations with every project we do. Hands down the biggest issue we hear people have with other contractors is around communication. Luckily we shine in this area! After a thorough up front meeting, dialing in precisely what they were after, our team showed up and was able to deliver on exactly what was promised!
We were introduced through our lovely friend Marilyn over at Precision Countertops. These clients were looking for a refresh on their kitchen cabinet boxes. These can be tricky projects, however all the ingredients were there for us to have a successful project and deliver on what we promised. Natural wood refinishing is absolutely more of an art than a skill, and our team delivered!
We frequently run up against HOAs, and have the luxury of flexibility since we are a small company willing to accomodate. This client had some repair work done on the front of her home and needed to have the front painted to avoid the wrath of the HOA. Later, we will be painting the whole home, including limewashing all the brick accents (stay tuned!), but for now, to avoid getting to the late season, we were able to take care of the important parts of her home. We will be back for the rest in the spring!
