Recently, we had the pleasure of working with our long-time clients Greg and Barbara. They desired lots of interior changes to their Tigard home: kitchen, laundry room, living room, fireplace, and other areas of the interior needed some repair and fresh paint. We completed the first part of this project, and will follow up with a part 2 as soon as it’s complete! But for now, you’ll get a peek at how we transformed their kitchen cabinets and laundry room.
This interior project was all about balance – bringing in modern touches while preserving the cozy warmth that makes their home so inviting.
Identifying the Challenges
Greg and Barbara came to us with two key goals: brighten their kitchen and update their laundry room. The natural wood cabinets and trim in their kitchen were showing their age and no longer fit their desired aesthetic. Meanwhile, the laundry room baseboards had become swollen over time, likely due to exposure to moisture – a common issue in laundry rooms where humidity levels are higher. On top of that, they wanted their living room fireplace to coordinate seamlessly with the new kitchen look.
Having worked with us multiple times over the past two decades, it was clear that Greg and Barbara trusted our expertise, attention to detail, and ability to deliver a smooth and efficient experience. They knew we could bring their vision to life. In fact, for a blast from the past, here’s the 5-star review they left for us 8 years ago after we repainted their front and garage doors:
Our Comprehensive Solution
This multi-faceted project required careful planning and execution to achieve Greg and Barbara’s goals. Here’s what we’ve tackled so far:
1. Kitchen Cabinets
We prepped and painted the kitchen cabinets, giving them a sleek, two-tone look. Adding new handles provided the finishing touch.
2. Laundry Room Baseboards & Cabinets
We removed and replaced the swollen baseboards in addition to updating the cabinets. By painting the new baseboards with a high-quality, moisture-resistant finish, we added a durable layer of protection to prevent future swelling and maintain a clean, polished look for years to come.
3. Living Room Fireplace
To tie the rooms together, we painted the fireplace to complement the updated kitchen cabinetry.
4. On-Site Efficiency
We completed all the work on-site, ensuring minimal disruption to Greg and Barbara’s home and maintaining a clean workspace throughout.
The Process: Precision and Care
Preparation was key to the success of this project. Over the course of several days, we meticulously prepped the kitchen, laundry room, and garage to create the ideal environment for sanding, priming, and painting. Each coat was followed by a thorough inspection, additional sanding as needed, and cleaning to ensure a flawless finish. This attention to detail allowed us to deliver a seamless transition from a work zone back to a welcoming home.
A Kitchen Greg & Barbara Love Even More
The results exceeded Greg and Barbara’s expectations. Their new kitchen cabinets bring a fresh, modern feel to the space while maintaining the warmth they cherish. The coordinated fireplace and updated laundry room add even more harmony to their home. They’re thrilled with the transformation and excited to continue the work on the rest of the interior soon.
Here’s what Greg and Barbara had to say: “We couldn’t be happier with the outcome. Pearl Painters made the whole process easy and stress-free, and the final result is even better than we imagined. It feels like a brand-new home, but it’s still the place we love.”
We’ll post the second part of this interior project very soon!
