What We've Been Up To
Spring 2026
We post projects on a monthly basis, regularly showing off the painting projects that we've tackled throughout the Portland area.
Full exterior repaint in Oregon City. It is always nice when the home is in excellent condition. Not only is it easier for us, but it saves a ton of money for the homeowners! New colors, killer team, and this home exterior is ready for another long life.
Some homes demand rich, bold, colors, and this is one of them! This project is a testament to using a color consultant. Even when people have an idea of what they are after, color consultants have the experience and knowledge to get you exactly what you are after. It is some of the best money you can invest into your projects when you care about the aesthetic of the home.
Classic Portland home, with all the care and design we know and love. There was quite a bit of prep on this one, getting it back to its majesty is no small feat! It makes it all the more rewarding when everything is completed and we have a happy client.
Another Bull Mountain home cleaned up, properly painted, and ready for a long life looking its best! Dark colors are very popular right now, which makes product choice and proper paint application all the more critical. Have questions about what products to use? Reach out!
This client bought her brand new dream home right where they wanted to live, but it needed updating! Nothing had been touched in decades, so while it was empty, we came through, cleaned, sanded, primed, and painted every surface except the cabinets – completely transforming the space and feel of this home. The before and afters speak for themselves!
Lots of care and work has gone into this home. With new windows, deck and several other updates, it was finally time for painting. It is great when we can come in after all the heavy demo work is done and be the final touch. New colors, lots of prep, and we have another Bull Mountain home looking its best.
Hardwood decks take a little extra care and attention. Given our PNW weather, they never last long, which is why we do everything we can to give them all the life we can. Cleaning, full sand, and oil stain for hardwoods applied in the proper method. You can’t just slap it on and call it a day! It takes careful proper application and time to ensure there is no pooling or dry spots.
Sometimes we run into extra curveballs that can be hard to catch. Fortunately these homeowners are on top of it so we could work together in the best interest of the home! It had been resided at some point, but only partially. Because of this, we had to follow a different process for caulking based on the siding for each area.
After many many years living with the same colors, it was finally time for an update. Fresh new modern colors now fill this home top to bottom! We took care of the walls & ceilings throughout, as well as some careful stain work on the cabinets and bedroom furniture.
The entry to home is so special, and this was no different. We focused on bringing new life to the fencing surrounding the front entry. A new color and a skilled touch has created an updated look to the entry that really catches the eye!
Another fence project done! With new hogwire fencing and original fencing around it, we cleaned, stained and got everything ready for the seasons to come.
Classic exterior project showing off our skills! Lots of prep on a wood sided home. Several days of scraping, sanding, priming and caulking, all the way around. There are some great photos showing off the “chicken pock” look homes get during the prep process. With some new colors to wrap it all in, we have one beautiful looking exterior, ready for its next chapter.
Creating a long lasting “as natural as possible” look in our lovely PNW is actually quite the challenge. Clear tongue and groove cedar needs to be sealed, and most ways to do that will change the color. The best method known to keep it as unchanged as possible is with a clear waterbase finish. It won’t last as long as an oil, but it will have that natural look everyone loves! We also stained the surrounding beams to match and did some touch up on the exterior as the final stage of this incredible outdoor patio addition.
Hardwood decks and fences can “season” over time, and create an entire look of their own. Even still, it’s wise to treat with a fungicide and restain with a hardwood specific stain every year or so (depending on a wide variety of factors).
The best thing a homeowner can do for their exterior is simply keep an eye on it. When you catch the early signs of paint failure, not only will it save a massive headache, but it will save A LOT of money. Add in some new colors, and heck, you could even say it’s fun! it should be fun, we certainly enjoy what we do, and hope to instill that in our clients.
When it’s time, it’s time! And for this home we had a combination of interior work and exterior. We went through and took care of the least fun part of all interior projects – all the trim prep. We refreshed all the trim on the upper level, as well as the walls in heavy traffic areas. Check out the fantasic color accent wall in the stairwell! We also took care of the front door, porch, and the soffits surrounding the home.
More previous clients returning to have things done right! Deck projects are fun ones to show off. Our lovely PNW is quite harsh on wood walking surfaces, but it makes for some great visual before & afters. Treated with a fungicide, and a high end oil base stain to seal it, has this deck ready for the weather and the parties again.
Another long time client had us back for some exterior work. Our primary focus was the rear decks and railings, however we also cleaned the full exterior, and did some touch up as well. The home was still in great shape, and with a little love is ready for another season or so before it needs a full exterior repaint again.
Cabinet painting is our specialty, and this project is a great example of that. It’s amazing the difference to me, even after all these years. Converting from a dated older cabinet set to a professionally painted finish is always a fantastic transition. The way this kitchen brightens up breathes all new life into the home!
Moving into your new home is hectic and stressful enough as is, which is why we frequently do projects like this one! While the home is empty, before you and your belongings are in the space, we can get in, do the dirty work of painting all the surfaces to help create your new space, and you have one less worry during a very exciting time! We will always do our best to meet timelines for these projects, always let us know when you need projects done by!
There are a few things that just take way more time than others with exteriors. Brushed combed siding and limewash are two of those main things. Brushed combed siding has to be brushed in order to keep the aesthetic. If we sprayed, every single imperfection would show and there’s the potential to not fully encapsulate the boards. If we rolled the paint, it would have made a huge mess of the siding. This means a slower process and more careful work. But limewashing is a very custom, trial and error process for each home and brick surface, but the end results speak for themselves!
A year+ in the making! We are only the final touch on this beautiful example of modern home renovation. We took care of the exterior, including the limewashing of all the brick. We are one of the only certified Romabio Limewashing companies in the area, a surprisingly complex process depending on what clients want. Take a look at these photos carefully. Notice the prep, the masking, and the attention to detail when it comes to a full exterior and limewash project like this.
Cabinets have always been our specialty, and this is a great example! Old 90’s oak, brought through the entire process of being converted to paint for a brand new look, and a higher resale value for those interested! Here is the quick version: An entire team is going to scrub, sand, wipe down, and apply 4 coats total (2 oil bonding primer, 2 top coats) on the cabinets to get this result. Cabinets are one of the most complex, prep heavy things we do, and with 20+ years of a proven process that works every time, the results speak for themselves. I challange there is no one better when it comes to cabinets.
When Is time for a refresh, it is hard to beat the Pearl Painters service. We have said it before and we’ll say it again: Some of the best projects are simply making your home look fresh and new again. It doesn’t have to be this huge change… repairs, wall painting, trim, doors, and that super cool handrail. All given some time and attention by a professional, ready to take on the next chapter in life.
